Many businesses use golf tournaments as fundraising events. They aren’t difficult to put together, but organizing teams and actually making money at the event can be a challenge.

How can you have a financially successful and fun event?

1. Add some exclusivity to your event by choosing a course that the public doesn’t often get to play. This will encourage a variety of players to sign up.

2. Want to try a fun twist? Add a 5th player to each team who is a local celebrity. Teams can sign up to play with their favorite player, newscaster or DJ.

3. Station a pro at one hole and let him drive each player’s ball for a $50 donation. This is a great way to earn some extra cash.

4. Recruit as many sponsors as possible to optimize your revenue. Consider adding tee sponsors, golf cart sponsors, registration sponsor, lunch sponsor, etc.

5. Ask local organizations for donations and host a silent auction with golf and sports items and gift cards.

To keep your players in good health throughout the day, provide snacks and enough water to keep everyone well hydrated. Above all, make sure everyone is having fun!

After the event, send every player and sponsor a thank you letter to let them know how well the event did and how much you appreciate their participation. This will set the stage for success for your event next year.
